*Thomas and Walter Monteith House- also called the Moneith House Museum is the first frame house built in Albany, OR.

*Albany Regional Museum- features exhibits about the history of Albany, OR

*Albany Civic Theater- the oldest civic theater which is still running and opened on March 2, 1951.

*Downtown Albany itself is a national historic district which includes one of the oldest Carnegie libraries.

Something non-history: If you are coming through Albany in July-August, they have the annual River Rythms event located in Moneith Riverpark.

Albany is located in Benton and Linn Counties along the and Calapooia river. The city was founded by brothers Thomas and Walter Monteith in 1848 who purchased the town claim from a squatter named Hiram Smeed for $400 and a horse. They named the town after their hometown in New York.
